The right treatment is not one-size-fits-all. It starts with a therapist you trust, an approach proven to help, and goals that matter to you.
Headstrong removes common barriers to care, connecting veterans with an experienced clinician who understands military culture and provides effective, evidence-based trauma treatment shaped by the client’s needs and goals.
We thoughtfully match each client with a Headstrong therapist and cover up to 30 eligible sessions. Together, they choose the proven trauma treatment best suited to the client's goals.

CPT is a structured form of talk therapy that helps veterans understand how trauma has shaped their thoughts and beliefs. By working through unhelpful patterns, veterans can reduce PTSD symptoms and move forward with greater confidence and control.

EMDR helps veterans process traumatic memories using guided eye movements or other side-to-side stimulation. Over time, these memories can become less distressing and have less power over daily life.

PE helps veterans gradually and safely face trauma-related memories, feelings, and situations they may have been avoiding. With support from a therapist, these experiences can become less distressing and PTSD symptoms can improve.

Some clients may be eligible to receive EMDR, CPT, or PE in a concentrated format over days or weeks instead of several months. When clinically appropriate, accelerated care can help a veteran focus deeply, build momentum, and make meaningful progress in less time. Availability depends on clinical need and program capacity.

Trauma can affect the entire family. This program helps couples and families understand trauma’s impact, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and move forward together. Availability is based on clinical need and requires a referral from a Headstrong clinician.

Headstrong's Scientific Advisory Board brings independent expertise in PTSD, suicide prevention, and evidence-based treatment. Its members advise clinical strategy, review outcomes, and help ensure our model continues to reflect strong science and the realities of military life.
